Nepal

Nepal is a landlocked country located in South Asia, situated mainly in the Himalayas between China (to the north) and India (to the south, east, and west). Nepal is characterized by diverse topography, ranging from lowland plains to the towering peaks of the Himalayas, including the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. The country is divided into three main regions: the Terai (lowland plains), the Hilly region, and the Himalayan region.

The capital and largest city is Kathmandu, located in the Kathmandu Valley. Other major cities include Pokhara, Biratnagar, and Lalitpur. Nepal has a rich cultural heritage influenced by Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Both religions coexist harmoniously, and many festivals and traditions are celebrated by people of both faiths. The country is known for its numerous temples, stupas, and monasteries, some of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Despite its small size, Nepal boasts incredible biodiversity. The varying elevations support diverse ecosystems, including subtropical jungles in the lowlands and alpine meadows in the high mountains. Nepal is renowned for being the home of eight of the world’s 14 highest peaks, including Mount Everest. This makes it a magnet for mountaineers, trekkers, and adventure enthusiasts from around the globe.
