Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu to Kerung (2,800m) – Cross-Border Journey
- Activities: Drive from Kathmandu to the Nepal-China border at Rasuwagadhi. Complete immigration formalities and transfer to Kerung (Gyirong).
- Key Highlights: First views of the Tibetan Plateau, acclimatization in Kerung.
Day 2: Kerung to Saga (4,600m) – Himalayan Landscapes
- Activities: Drive through high-altitude deserts, past Peiku Tso Lake, and into Saga.
- Key Highlights: Panoramic views of Shishapangma (8,027m) and the Brahmaputra River headwaters.
Day 3: Saga to Lake Manasarovar (4,590m) – Spiritual Awakening
- Activities: Arrive at Lake Manasarovar and participate in a ritual bath or meditation. Visit Chiu Monastery.
- Key Highlights: Sunset over the sacred lake, believed to cleanse sins in Hindu and Buddhist traditions.
Day 4: Lake Manasarovar to Darchen (4,575m) – Pilgrimage Prep
- Activities: Drive to Darchen, the base for the Kora trek. Attend a blessing ceremony with a local Lama.
- Key Highlights: Orientation for the Kora trek and views of Mount Kailash’s west face.
Days 5–7: Mount Kailash Kora Trek – Sacred Circumambulation
- Day 5 (Darchen to Dirapuk, 4,900m): Trek via Yam Dwar (starting point) and Tarboche.
- Day 6 (Dirapuk to Zutulpuk, 4,790m): Cross Dolma La Pass (5,636m), the trek’s highest point.
- Day 7 (Zutulpuk to Darchen): Conclude the Kora and return to Darchen.
- Key Highlights: Dolma La Pass prayer flags, close-up views of Kailash’s north face, and visits to ancient meditation caves.
Day 8: Darchen to Saga – Return Journey
- Activities: Drive back to Saga, reflecting on the Kora experience.
- Key Highlights: Farewell views of Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar.
Day 9: Saga to Kerung
- Activities: Retrace the route to Kerung, with stops for photography.
Day 10: Kerung to Kathmandu
- Activities: Cross back into Nepal and drive to Kathmandu. Farewell dinner.
