Passport Requirements

• A valid passport is required for all foreign travelers entering Nepal.
• The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival.
• Make sure your passport has at least one blank page for visa stamps.

Visa Requirements

Nepal offers different types of visas depending on the purpose of travel:

1. Tourist Visa

• Most travelers must obtain a visa to enter Nepal.
• A tourist visa can be obtained on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) and border entry points.
• It can also be obtained from Nepalese embassies or consulates before arrival.
• The tourist visa allows multiple entries.

Visa Fees (On Arrival & Embassy)

• 15 days: USD 30
• 30 days: USD 50
• 90 days: USD 125

Extension of Tourist Visa

• Can be extended at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
• Minimum extension: 15 days (USD 45), after which USD 3 per extra day.
• Maximum Stay: Up to 150 days per calendar year (includes initial visa period).

2. Gratis (Free) Visa

• SAARC Nationals (except Afghanistan) can get a 30-day free visa once a year.
• Children under 10 years get a free visa (except for US citizens).

3. Visa for Indian Citizens

• Indian nationals do not need a visa to enter Nepal.
• However, they must carry a valid passport or an official government-issued photo ID (such as an Aadhaar card, voter ID, or citizenship certificate).

4. Other Types of Visas

• Business Visa: For those investing or working in Nepal.
• Student Visa: For those studying in Nepal.
• Work Visa: Requires a recommendation from the Ministry of Labor.
• Transit Visa: USD 5 for 24-hour transit at the airport.

Visa Exemptions & Restrictions

• Chinese Nationals: Can apply for a gratis (free) visa at the embassy.
• U.S. Citizens: Pay visa fees even for children under 10 years.
• Nationals of Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan must obtain a visa before arrival.

How to Apply for a Visa?
On Arrival:

• Fill out the arrival visa application form (online or at kiosks at the airport).
• Pay the visa fee at the counter (USD, EUR, GBP, or equivalent in NPR).
• Submit the receipt and passport at the immigration counter.

At an Embassy/Consulate:

• Submit an application form, passport, and required documents.
• Pay the visa fee.
• Receive the visa before travel.
Electronic Visa Option:
